I know I’ve said this a million times, but finding fall appropriate tops for 80+ degree “fall” weather can often be a challenge. Everyone is selling sweaters right now, meanwhile all of Houston is still sporting shorts and sandals, except for the select few of us who are desperately trying to make fall happen. It has cooled off a little this last week, which has been wonderful, but the temps are gong to creep back up over the next few days.
A couple of weeks ago I had to go through a series of doctor’s visits because we discovered I have multiple nodules on my thyroid. Turns out this is actually pretty common, but after my ultrasound to find them I kind of freaked out a little because they decided they wanted to do a biopsy on the largest one. I immediately associated the word “biopsy” with cancer, despite the fact that benign thyroid nodules are very common, and thyroid cancer is rare. Anway, I was feeling particularly sorry for myself, so I hit up Nordstrom that week to make myself feel better. I found so many good things that day and this top and jeans were a couple of my purchases!
This top is perfect for our weather right now. It is super thin and lightweight (obviously, because it’s lace), and can easily be styled for fall. It has sleeves, but you don’t get too hot since they are sheer. You do have to wear a cami under it though, because it is super sheer. But if you find a good one it’s not too bad! I love these because they are a little bit silky so whatever you layer over them doesn’t catch on the fabric and wrinkle up.
I’ve mentioned this in my last couple of posts as well, but I’m all over this uneven hem trend for denim. I picked up this pair at Nordstrom that day, and they are under $70! (How can you say no, right?!) 🙂 I like that they are a lighter wash, since I tend to gravitate toward darker jeans, and that they are distressed. I think you could easily dress these up with some killer pumps and a cute top too!
For my shoes I went with my go-to booties. These are a couple of years old, but I’ve linked some similar styles. I love the color of these boots, they are so perfect for fall! I grabbed my oversized sunnies and classic LV purse for the finishing touches to this easy, casual look!
