I’m talking about all of my favorite beauty products today! To be honest with you, I switch up my skincare routine and my makeup preferences a lot, but I have found myself purchasing a lot of these items over and over again. The rest are items that I’ve recently tried and have fallen in love with!
I rarely wear “real” foundation. What I mean by “real” is liquid. I love makeup, I really do, but I hate the feel of most foundations. So, for my day-to-day makeup I usually go with a powder foundation. They are easy to apply, take less time, and (in my opinion) never tend to feel as heavy. This powder foundation from Bobbi Brown is amazing. They call it “skin weightless powder foundation” and that’s exactly how it feels on your skin…weightless. Exactly what I want for every day makeup. It also covers REALLY well, so you don’t have to apply it too heavily. I used to always use Bare Minerals, which I still love, but the explosion of powder everywhere was starting to get old, so I switched to this one and I am loving it!
Next up is this Anastasia Beverly Hills contour palette. I pretty much use contouring every day, but I go a little heavier when I’m taking blog photos or going out or something (anytime I’m wearing heavier makeup). It has everything you need to perfect your contouring and highlighting process. I love the banana color (that is the first one I always run out of). I apply it over my concealer to help brighten up my dark circles a bit. I actually use all three of the bronzer colors. I use a mixture of the middle color and left color below my cheekbones, I dab a little of the right color on the apples of my cheeks, and I use the middle color on my forehead and the sides of my nose. The highlighters are both great too, one is just a little brighter. I use the brighter one on my cheekbones and the bridge of my nose, and the other one on my forehead and chin.
Okay y’all, this Origins mouisturizer is literally my favorite beauty product of all time. It is a daytime moisturizer with SPF 15. In it’s product description they say that it gives you a hint of radiance in 10 seconds. This is actually true. I will never forget the first time I tried it, my skin looked so even and glowing literally by the time I wiped my hands off. I used to always wear a tinted moisturizer under whatever face makeup I was wearing for the day, but with this moisturizer I don’t need it. Like I said, this is my absolute favorite product EVER.
This Cover FX concealer is heavy duty. I don’t use this every day. But I LOVE it for the days I’m shooting or just wanting to feel super glam. I have some pretty major under eye circles, and I have found this hides them the best so far.
Calling all girls with super fine hair!! (That’s me.) This product from Drybar will solve all your problems. It is a texturizer and dry shampoo in one. I will say though, I don’t use it every day because I find that it can feel like there is too much product in my hair. But on the days that I wash my hair, I use it to give my super fine hair enough texture to have some volume. I spray it all over my roots on the top half of my head, then kind of rub it in with my fingertips (like you would when shampooing your hair). I only use it at the roots because I want the volume, and I think putting it all over my hair would make my hair too heavy. On the days I don’t wash my hair, I don’t use it all, I just throw a little bit of powder dry shampoo (my favorite is Bumble & Bumble) on my roots and that is enough.
Remember when I said I love Bare Minerals foundation but I don’t use it anymore because I am over the powder explosion? Well, a href=”http://rstyle.me/n/b3d26wbnnif”>this product is worth it. This is their concealer, it works just like the foundation, but this comes in an eye-brightening color they call “well-rested” which is what I use. It hides my dark circles SO well, brightening up my eyes. This is what I use for everyday wear as my under eye concealer. Actually, I also use it for subtle highlighting on my nose, forehead, and chin, as well as around my nose wear I tend to get some redness.
This foundation from Tarte has been my latest my favorite. It is a full coverage foundation, but it is water-based, so it has a very lightweight feel on the skin. The first day I used it I got quite a few compliments from random strangers on my makeup! The ONLY thing I don’t like about it is that is uses a dropper applicator. It tends to get a little messy. I apply my foundation with a Beauty Blender, so I have to drop it onto the Beauty Blender to apply it to my skin. In my opinion, a pump would be better, but it’s still a great foundation!
I am a firm believer that you can’t apply any makeup without a finishing powder. I’m not sure how I ever did. This one from Make Up For Ever is my favorite. It’s a white powder that goes on translucently, to perfect your makeup and set it for the day. I also use it throughout the day if I find that I’m getting a little bit of shine on my skin. It takes it away immediately!
I just recently purchased this makeup setting spray from Urban Decay. I was shooting some blog pictures recently and it was so hot that I was sweating like crazy, making my makeup look shiny. Nobody wants that, especially in pictures. Urban Decay makes several different setting sprays, but I chose the one with oil control because that seemed to be my biggest issue. So far, it seems to be helping!
Let’s talk about lips for a second. I used to never wear anything by chapstick on my lips. I hate lipgloss. A lot. It gets sticky, your hair gets stuck in it, so much no. I used to always wear lip stains, but if you aren’t committed to that color for the whole day that can be a mess. I like lipstick, but it has to re-applied, and I have to use a liner with it, basically it’s just a longer process. For the days that I just want enough color not to look like I forgot about my lips when doing my makeup, I use this lip treatment from Sugar Lips. It is like a chapstick, but smoother. It also has SPF. I have found that this is actually a much better lip treatment than any other one I have tried. Plus, if you want, you can add a tint to your lips, just enough to make them show up (you can also get it without color too). My favorite is the “Sugar Petal Tinted” color.
Okay, I think moisturizers can make or break your beauty routine. In my opinion, if you are going to spend any money on any part of your skincare routine, it should be on your moisturizer (and maybe your eye cream). That being said, there are some great ones that aren’t hundreds of dollars. I recently tried the La Mer moisturizer, and while wonderful, I just can’t spend that much every few months. This moisturizer from belif is a really great one, and the one I’m currently using. I just tried it after receiving samples of it from Sephora and fell in love with the way it makes my skin feel. It’s a gel formula, which normally aren’t my favorite, but this one makes my skin so soft and smooth, and never leaves it with that tight feeling. Plus it smells really good too!
Last, but not least, I want to tell you about my favorite hair dryer. As I mentioned before, I have fine hair, but I have A LOT of it. Just as my hair stylist, when she highlights my hair it feels never-ending. For years I was just buying cheap hair dryers and burning them out, so I’d just replace it with another cheap one. I finally decided to invest in a good one, and I am so glad I did. This dryer from Drybar dries my hair in like half the time the cheap ones were. It’s also pretty lightweight compared to a lot of other dryers, so that was a bonus for me. I no longer have to take breaks while drying my hair haha! 🙂
xo, Loren
