I am known for always buying basic tops. Tops that are simple, neutral colors, that I can wear over and over again. It’s also rare that I spend this much on a top. My 10-year high school reunion was last weekend and I wanted to something that wasn’t too boring. The hard part? It was like 90 degrees outside. Because, well…Houston. Anthropologie is usually the store I hit up when looking for a top that is a little more interesting. They always have pretty little things with unexpected details. I saw this top hanging toward the back of the store and was all over it. Plus, I am REALLY into this dark green color lately. I recently dyed my hair a little lighter, more of an ash blonde, and I love this color with my new hair! Haha!
This isn’t the exact outfit I wore to the reunion, I actually swapped my black jeans for a traditional dark blue wash, and wore lace-up flats instead of booties. When I bought this top, the sales associate said that prior to the day I was in the store, they had styled it with black jeans and it looked amazing. So I thought I’d give it a shot, just to try something a little different. I also really like pairing feminine pieces, like this top, with pieces that are a little more “tough”, like some ripped jeans.
I chose these booties I got a couple of years ago because I thought the color pulled out the bronze flowers in the top, and contrasted perfectly against my black jeans. I did the same with my jewelry, choosing a bronze colored stud earring from Kendra Scott and some simple gold bangles from Bauble Bar. If it ever cools off, I just got an awesome tan faux leather jacket that I can’t wait to wear over this top!
