Confession: I buy a lot of tops. I figure if I have a good rotation of bottoms that can go with everything, then buying tops is a good, easy way to change it up with out buying a full outfit every time I want something new. We have officially reached the ridiculously hot season in Houston. That means I am very limited on what kind of tops I am actually willing to wear. Sleeves are pretty much out of the question. If a top is sleeveless and I can wear a normal bra with it, then I WILL purchase it. Haha! (For some reason strapless bras became WAY more uncomfortable after having kids).
This top from J.Crew is perfect for this heat. It is lightweight, sleeveless, and I can wear a normal bra with it! It even has those little bra hooks under the straps to keep your straps in place (one of my favorite inventions ever)! Plus, I love the frayed detailing on this otherwise plain top. I’m not one to wear many patterns, so texture is always a fun way to make a piece a little more interesting. By the way, this top also comes in a white, red and lighter blue option. They are all so pretty I had a hard time deciding which color to get!
Despite the heat, I wanted to wear this top with my favorite white skinnies. Luckily, these aren’t super thick, but aren’t see-through either, so they are bearable even around this time of year. For my shoes I opted for my new wedges, simply because I want to wear them with everything right now. I’d also wear this look with my flat nude sandals if I didn’t feel like wearing a shoe with any height. I added a pop of red to the navy and white with my new Kendra Scott earrings and this Rebecca Minkoff crossbody bag that I use way more than I ever thought I would.
