Hi friends! I just got in some new luggage from Delsey that I have been dying to share with you guys. For years I have been eyeing their coveted Chatelet Hard collection. But as gorgeous as it is, this notorious over-packer needs something a little lighter, even if it is just a few pounds. Have you ever been the one at the check-in counter frantically transferring stuff from your checked bag to your carry-on? Yeah, I’ve been there a few times. Enter, the Delsey Cruise Lite Hard Collection. It’s everything you want in hard-sided suitcase, minus the extra pounds.
I got two pieces from this collection, the 29″ spinner, and the 21″ carry-on. Both of them have features that I love, so I wanted to share them with you!
First of all, this 29″ spinner is ROOMY y’all. Like, I’m pretty sure I could fit in there. It has all your typical features like zipper pockets and expanding capabilities, but the feature I am most obsessed with is that it has a built-in overweight indicator. Yep. You read that right. Remember my whole thing before about getting to check-in and realizing my bag is overweight? Not anymore friends!
If you look at the two pieces below, I tried to get pictures while holding the bag (which proved slightly difficult with a camera in the other hand) to show you how it works. In the first one, the bag is empty, and as you can see the little line to the right (or above in the next picture) of the handle remains gray.
In the next picture, I loaded my bag down with everything I could thing of that would make it heavy. You see that little red line just above where I’m grabbing the handle? That means my bag is too heavy!
Another feature I love that all bags in this collection have, is the lock for the zippers. Okay, I know I’m a little late to the game with this one, but I’ve never had a suitcase that does this! I like the way this one works not only because you can keep your stuff safe, but it also keeps all the zippers in one place! Anyone else get super annoyed going around their suitcase trying to find the stupid zipper? Or is that just me?
Okay, now let me tell you about this carry-on. I am not going to lie, when I first opened it up I was kind of bummed because the way it is all laid out made me feel like I wouldn’t be able to fit that much in it. Boy was I wrong.
I could not tell you guys the last time I packed myself in a carry-on suitcase (mostly because of the liquids rule, but nonetheless it’s still difficult). I am flying to Dallas this week for a few days to join my husband while he’s on a work trip, and you guys, I managed to fit everything in this little gem of a bag. AND, in true blogger fashion, I packed a couple of extra outfits. I blew my own mind y’all. I did not think it was possible.
I packed all my clothing on the right side, securing it under the straps you see there. I packed my makeup, shoes, an evening handbag (which I stuffed my underwear in to help it not get crushed when the bag sits upright), hat, and curling iron on the left side so I could zip it in to keep it all from falling out when I open the suitcase. In that smaller zipper compartment in the middle, I put things like belts and small accessories.
Now, this hard-sided carry-on has a front pocket y’all, and it’s HUGE. My biggest gripe with most hard sided carry-ons is that you have to literally lay them down and open them completely to get anything out. This one was built to make getting through security a breeze.
This front section has a pocket that perfectly fits a lap top and/or iPad, so you can easily take it out to get through security. I also plan to throw my bag of liquids in this front pocket so I can just grab it, throw it in a bin, and move on down the line.
There are also a couple of zipper pockets, perfect for holding the unruly cords or chargers, or anything else you want contained, but readily accessible.
There you have it! My full review of the Delsey Cruise Lite Hardside Collection
xo, Loren
