Happy New Year y’all! I hope you all had fun celebrating! We kept it pretty chill for New Year’s. Some friends of ours who have two kids the same age as ours invited us over for dinner, so we hung out with them while the kids played. We were home and in bed by 11, and it was awesome! Haha! I used to LOVE staying up late, (and still do to be honest with you) but most days my body just can’t handle it quite the same way anymore! I guess chasing around two toddlers takes more energy than you realize!
So here it is, my first blog post of 2017. I had to start it off with a good one, right?! I am really loving this outfit, mostly because it doesn’t look like what I usually wear. But sometimes it’s fun to branch out and try something new!
I’m calling these jeans “mom jeans” because of how incredibly high the rise is. To be honest with you, I was surprised how much I liked them after trying them on. But they are perfect for tucking shirts in and giving me back a waistline! I picked up this black top (only $59!) from Nordstrom a few days ago during a post-Christmas shopping run (like I really need to be shopping right now). I love the sleeves on it, because who isn’t obsessed with the bell sleeve trend?! I know this girl is. The back is also fun, but not too low, so you can wear a normal bra with it. That’s always a plus for me.
I got a little adventurous with my accessories for this look. Hence, the whole “trying something new” thing. At first glance, this belt kind of scared me. Haha. Because of it’s western-inspired style, I wasn’t too into it at first. I am from Texas. I have lived here my whole life. The one thing I can’t stand about Texas is the stereotype that we are all cowboys who ride horses and wear cowboy boots and cowboy hats. But I realized after giving this belt a shot, that I can totally style it without it looking too western! The thing is, I really want a Gucci belt, but this one is MUCH more affordable. 😉
My bright pink bag was a Christmas gift from my grandmother. I actually sent it to her months ago (she asks for our Christmas lists super early), so this particular color and style combo is currently sold out. I did link a really cute clutch though in the same color. I LOVE the color of this bag, but I have to admit, it is a bit hard to figure out what colors to pair it with.
These velvet booties were another Christmas gift that I am somewhat obsessed with. I have the black version of these boots and love them. But I’ve also been really into the velvet trend, so I couldn’t resist these cuties. And good news, if navy velvet isn’t your thing, they come in a LOT of other colors and fabrics.
xo, Loren
