Happy Sunday friends! Sorry I’ve been a little MIA on here this week…it’s been a whirlwind since getting back from New York! I got home Sunday afternoon, had all the doctor appointments and toddler activities, then flew out this morning to Tampa to leave for a cruise tomorrow morning for my father-in-law’s 60th birthday celebration.
But before I go off the grid, I promised y’all I’d give you the rundown on my New York Fashion Week experience! This was my first time going to New York for Fashion Week, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I know it can be a bit of a crazy trip, but I didn’t want to also not be able to enjoy it, so my roommate and I took a more low-key approach to the weekend.
We didn’t kill ourselves trying to make it to everything we possibly could. We mostly went to attend a few events and shows, and get some fun pictures. Unfortunately, we ended up only making it to one group show because getting around the city was taking FOREVER! I actually had one Uber ride that took over an hour to go 4 miles because the traffic was so bad. But honestly, I didn’t score an invite to any of the big name shows, so the parties were definitely more fun!
The first day we didn’t have much planned so we went to brunch at Sarabeth’s in Tribeca then met up with a photographer to shoot whatever we were wearing. After that we headed into midtown for a little shopping. That night we attended an event at Banana Republic, put on by Bumble. It was a pretty low-key event, but we met up with a few other blogger babes and went to get dinner and drinks after at one of my favorite restaurants, ABC Kitchen.
The next day we woke up to shoot with our photographer again, then headed over to the rewardStyle NYFW headquarters at a hotel’s rooftop lounge. We got to hang out and mingle with all the other bloggers who were in the city that weekend. After that my roommate and I needed lunch and wine, so we went to a late lunch just the two of us before heading back to our hotel to get ready for the Lulu’s party later that night. The Lulu’s party ended up being so much fun!
Our last day there we slept in, which we SO needed because we were out late the night before having dinner and drinks with one of my former co-workers who has since moved to New York. We went into Chelsea for a show featuring four or five small designers, then went into Soho for a little shopping and lunch at Dos Caminos (so good btw).
That night we had the LIKEtoKNOW.it party, which of course, is always a good time. We had totally planned on having an amazing dinner afterward at Beauty & Essex (if you haven’t been it’s SO cool), but we got there super early for our reservation and they couldn’t seat us early. We were tired and ready to eat so we headed back to our hotel and just ate at basically a sports bar down the street haha.
We didn’t do a ton of stuff, but just enough to have the perfect balance. I had the BEST time rooming with my girl @everyday_abby and getting to know her better. Now that I know what to expect, I am excited to back next year!
xo, Loren
