Hello friends! I’m finally sharing our little girls weekend getaway to San Antonio from a few weeks ago. My sister-in-law and I had the best time, and the best hosts!
We stayed at the Westin Riverwalk, San Antonio and it was perfect! We were in a suite with tons of space, two queen beds and a bathroom PLENTY big for the two of us to share. The rooms had been cleaned and sanitized and the hotel required masks outside of the rooms, all the necessary COVID precautions were taken.
They had a little rooftop pool situation that we took full advantage of as soon as we arrived. The weather was GORGEOUS and we grabbed a drink from the restaurant downstairs (more on that later) to take up with us. Just an FYI though, if you want to use the pool (or workout facility), a reservation is required so that they don’t get too overcrowded and keep in line with social distancing protocols. More info on their Commitment to Clean initiative can be found here.
After our pool sesh, we went back to the room to get ready for dinner. Lucky for us, the Westin’s restaurant, Zocca, had literally JUST reopened that day, so we hit that up for dinner. It’s Italian and delicious. Lots of classic Italian dishes and yummy apps (and wine, of course)! Since the Riverwalk is so gorgeous, we wandered down a little ways to find another spot to have a drink on the water before ending our night.
The next day was full of fun adventures. Before heading out though, I had to grab a coffee for the road from the Westin’s little snack bar on the main level. Then we hit up The Shops at La Cantera for brunch at Whiskey Cake and little shopping, to kill some time before Six Flags Fiesta Texas opened up at noon.
Lucky for us, the shopping center and Six Flags are literally right next to each other, so within 10 minutes we were in the park trying to figure out which ride to ride first. We hit up a few roller coasters, ate some snacks, and enjoyed the scenery. I probably hadn’t been to Six Flags since I was like 10 years old, and honestly the park is surprisingly beautiful. It’s sort of nestled in a little basin surrounded by rock walls, made the short wait times in the lines not too bad at all.
And again, they were adhering to all the proper COVID protocols. Upon entering the park the take everyone’s temperature as you walk through a climate controlled tent (it’s done with literally no contact by the way, super cool honestly), and required masks throughout the park as well as six foot distancing between parties.
After Six Flags, we ventured over to the Natural Bridge Caverns. I have to say, this might have been my favorite thing we did. It was breathtaking. We took the tour into the caverns as the (very) knowledgable tour guide told us about how they came to be. The pictures honestly don’t do it justice.
After our tour of the Caverns, we drove back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. We ended up just walking the Riverwalk and ate dinner in the bar at Iron Cactus. Sadly, I don’t have any pics from that meal because it was super dark in there, but highly recommend! They make great margaritas too!
The next morning we were set to head home, but not before one last meal. I mean, who can resist a good brunch in a beautiful place. Per the recommendation of many of my followers, we ate at Supper (located in Hotel Emma). It did not disappoint. I think our favorites from the brunch menu were the biscuits and jam and the ciabatta ham and egg sandwich. By the way, this area is super beautiful and fun to walk around!
Can’t wait to head back to San Antonio for another stay at the Westin Riverwalk, San Antonio soon! We truly had the best time!
