Dress: XO Mandy Sue (only $24!) / Jacket: Blank NYC / Booties: Steve Madden / Clutch: Clare V / Sunnies: Karen Walker / Ring: David Yurman
Good news you guys, it’s Wednesday! Which means we are half way to the weekend! I couldn’t be more ready for Friday. This week has been a STRUGGLE for me! I am headed out on Friday to celebrate my soon-to-be sister-in-law all weekend at her bachelorette party in Austin, so I’m ready for a little R&R!
This little striped dress was another purchase from that adorable online boutique I keep talking about, XO Mandy Sue. I’m going to be honest with y’all, I ordered this dress with a lot of hesitation. Why? Because it’s a super stretchy body-con dress. Spanx or no Spanx, this dress hugs every curve and Spanx don’t make a belly disappear. They just make it a little smoother. Haha! I tend to try to hide my “mom pooch” with a loose fitting top or a half-tuck (my favorite trick), but I guess I was feeling super confident the day I ordered this little number so I went for it. Once I got it and tried it on, it was surprisingly flattering. And yes, if I’m not wearing a jacket you CAN still see a little bit of a pooch. But for some reason, this dress just works. And they say horizontal stripes make you look wider, but I disagree! I think for this dress they do a good job of sort of taking attention away from problem areas. Or at least I felt good enough in it haha! 🙂
I know I’ve posted this gorgeous burgundy suede jacket a thousand times, but I can’t stop wearing it, so of course I layered it over this dress. I swear y’all, this jacket is the perfect finishing touch to, like, EVERYTHING. A lot of my closet is neutral, so this jacket is a good way to break up an all neutral look without adding anything too bright.
Another favorite thing I’ve been getting tons of wear out of are these booties. They are under $100 and go with everything. Enough said. (Because I swear I’ve already talked them up like 5 times in my previous posts, but I really do love them!)
I didn’t add too much jewelry to this look. I felt like it didn’t need it. The jacket has so much hardware that adding much jewelry just felt like too much metal. I did have to mix it up though by adding my leopard clutch to the outfit. In my opinion, leopard is a neutral. I believe it goes with everything. Plus I’ve always loved a subtle print-on-print look.
xo, Loren
