Happy Saturday friends! Today I’m sharing what I packed for our trip to Florida over Easter weekend! For those of you who don’t know, my in-laws live in Clearwater, FL, so we try to go visit a couple times a year. It works out great because we sort of get a family visit and a vacation all in one. If you’ve never been to this part of Florida, the beach really is beautiful. I think it was actually voted the number one beach in America this year!
First things first, I’m linking my current favorite suitcase from Delsey here for y’all. My suitcase is the largest one from the Aero Collection, the 29″, and it’s the perfect size for my over-packing tendencies. We were gone for 6 days for this trip and it wasn’t even completely full. I also have this same suitcase in the 25″ and I use it often to pack both my kids’ stuff in the same bag for trips like this. Also, I didn’t start using hard-sided luggage until like a year ago (don’t ask me why) and now I really don’t like to use anything different. I feel like the hard sides help protect my shoes, hair dryer, bags and toiletries a little bit more, since whenever they pile up the bags at the airport my suitcase won’t get quite so squished.
Whenever I pack for trips like this, I tend to take a variety of clothes. Clearwater is a pretty casual spot, lots of beachy looks and denim cut-offs. It was a little chilly in the evenings (especially on the beach) when we went this time, so I tried to make sure I had a little bit of everything.
I wore these olive wide leg pants on the airplane for our flight there with just this simple black tank. Half the time, airplanes are freezing, so I always make sure to grab a jacket for my tote or carry-on. This denim jacket has been my go-to lately, and I wear it with everything.
In Florida, shorts are a must, so I packed my favorite denim cutoffs and this white pair as well. I did throw in a pair of white jeans and denim jeans, but I ended up only wearing the denim pair one morning when it was a little chilly and then again on the flight home.
I made sure to bring a few sleeveless or short-sleeve tops, as well as a a couple of long-sleeve options. I was so glad I packed the long-sleeve ones for mornings and evenings.
And of course I had to pack a few swimsuits, I mean, it is Florida. We only ended up going to the beach one day that we were there, but my in-laws have a pool in their backyard so I hung out back there a little during my kids’ nap time. The water was wayyy too cold to actually get in the pool, but the sun was pretty hot, so my sun-bathing sessions really didn’t last too long!
Whenever I travel I tend to take my favorite pieces and just mix and match a lot of things. Check out my collage below to see what else I wore during our trip! (You can click on each image to shop the products!)
