Happy Friday babes! Today I’m sharing a bit of a different post than usual, but I think you’ll all be super interested to read it! So over the last few months I’ve had the pleasure of having a few services done at Woodlands Wellness and I want to give you all the low-down!
Woodlands Wellness is a med spa run by a husband and wife team of doctors, Dr. Sakina Davis and Dr. George Davis. Dr. Sakina Davis treats a variety of hormone-related issues, as well as vitamin, mineral, and dietary consultations, helping her patients to feel good on the inside. Dr. George Davis has been performing cosmetic procedures since 2005, and helps patients to feel good on the outside.
Thanks to their many years of experience in the industry, each doctor has also written a book in their respective fields. Dr. Sakina Davis (after being diagnosed with PCOS, polycystic ovarian syndrome, many years ago) has written a book titled Unlocking the Mysteries of PCOS. The book talks about her natural, holistic approach to treating PCOS, which ultimately cured her and her daughter of the condition. To be honest, I find it extremely interesting because I am so intrigues by this type of approach. I fully believe that what we put into our body affects how it functions, including everything from food to medicine, and not all of it is always good. I mean, I’m no doctor obviously, but to me it just makes sense!
Dr. George Davis’ book, Improve Your Selfie is all about educating the reader on the most effective and safe treatments to achieve the results they are looking for. I feel like so many people have unasked, and therefore unanswered, questions about cosmetic treatments, and are afraid to go in for a consultation. There are so many different options out there, surgical and non-surgical, and Dr. George Davis outlines them for you in his book!
Okay, now onto the services I had done during my three visits at Woodlands Wellness! So the first service I went in for was fillers. I had never done any type of fillers before and had lots of questions. Luckily, Lauren Ramos, the nurse I saw every time I went in, was INCREDIBLY helpful and knowledgeable. I told her I had always wished my lips were just slightly plumper, but had always been afraid of them looking overdone. I was definitely not going for a Kylie Jenner type look. No offense to Kylie, she’s gorg, but it’s just not my style. I wanted a subtle change that just evened out my top lip and gave me a little boost.
She recommended Vollure, a filler that lasts up to 18 months. I loved the idea of this, because I had just assumed that fillers didn’t last that long! I believe I got one unit of Vollure, and you guys, I am SO happy with the results. I got exactly what I asked for, just a little improvement without looking overdone. I posted a before and after picture for you below!
As far as the experience of it, when I went in for the treatment, Lauren put a numbing cream all over my mouth (I went ahead and included a selfie of that just for a few laughs) that sat on for maybe about 20 minutes. And it definitely worked. My mouth was definitely numb. I actually thought it was hilarious because every time I tried to talk it felt so odd. Lauren wiped off the cream and started injecting me, and to be honest, it didn’t hurt too badly at all!
I was a bit swollen right after, but nothing too crazy. The numbness wore off about 30 minutes after I left the building. I stayed swollen really for only about two or three days, but it was subtle. I didn’t bruise around my mouth at all. I just had one little bruise on my actual lip at one of the injection sites, but it was easily covered by lipstick. I will say though, Lauren recommended not drinking alcohol (especially red wine) a few days prior to the treatment to help minimize the chance of bruising. She also gave me an all-natural supplement called Arnica to take in capsule form a few days prior to my treatment as well as after, that is supposed to help minimize the bruising and speed up the healing.
The next treatment I had done was Botox, which I’ve had done several times before. That one was super easy and routine for me. But having Lauren as my injector was a bonus just due to her extensive knowledge about the face and the way it moves.
My most recent treatment was a hydrafacial (administered by BJ who is awesome!), and it was the first one I’ve ever done. At the last minute, I opted to add on a dermaplaning treatment just to really reap the benefits of the facial. Dermaplaning is a treatment where they use a straight blade to exfoliate the face and remove any peach fuzz, allowing any moisturizing products to really penetrate the skin. The Hydrafacial is essentially a hydradermabrasion treatment that includes cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, and hydration all at once with no downtime (as opposed to something like a chemical peel that requires a bit of down time).
Y’all, I definitely left with the softest skin EVER. I think I actually told BJ that my skin felt like Mason’s (my three year old son who has the most perfect cheeks ever). And it was perfect timing for our family pictures a few days later. It’s definitely something I will have done again!
I should also mention that consultations at Woodlands Wellness are free, so if you have questions about something you’ve been considering having done, go and chat with them! Maybe I’ll see you there!
